Ducks, Cows, Giraffes, OH MY!

It's a duck...
It's a cow....

No!
It's a... giraffe?

That's right folks!
What started out as a humble mound of buttery pound cake evolved over time into the giraffe you see before your very eyes!


Now, I know what you are thinking:
"It looks like a yellow and brown cow."
But when you think about it:
Are cows not just fat giraffes
with short necks and white hair?

And if that's not what crossed your mind,
You're probably thinking: "Hey, is that Psyduck?"
And all I have to say to that is...
Well, heck yes.
The resemblance is there.
I mean, imagine the cake without the spots,
And I would think the cake was about to psychically assault my brain. Or whatever it is that Psyduck does.
But that's enough Pokemon talk.

It's a giraffe, so deal.

This cake was made as a surprise for my super awesome friend Jenny. Her boyfriend and I schemed to get the cake to her apartment while she was away, and then SURPRISE!
Yup, it worked!

Everyone had an awesome time, and even though I was admittedly self-conscious about Psydu-- I mean, my giraffe, everyone loved him!


Jenny and I have been great friends for years now! And for as long as I have known her she has absolutely LOVED giraffes!

Like I said, he was made of a butter pound cake and covered with a thin layer of buttercream and fondant. His spots are a luscious chocolate buttercream and his head is a sculpted rice krispie treat. Mmmm!



Because I knew my friend would not have the strength to cut the poor little giraffe, I brought everyone's favorite cupcakes: Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting and Choco-Latte Cupcakes!
And people enjoyed them...
IMMENSELY!

However, I would have never been able to pull this off without the help of Jenny's awesome best friend and her boyfriend.

Between the three of us, we were sneakily able to gather friends and cake without Jenny knowing, and surprise her!

Everyone had a fantastic time, and it was a great opportunity to gather friends, new and old!
